Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella's son Zain passes away at 26 age

Satya Nadella became the CEO of Microsoft in February 2014. He was a 22-year veteran of the company when he took on this role.


Nadella is one of Microsoft's wealthiest employees, with a net worth of US$500 million, and a member of the board at Adobe Systems since 2012.


Nadella is also a member of several other tech boards, including Salesforce.com, Nokia, and Intel Corporation.



Satya Nadella was appointed CEO of Microsoft in February 2014. He was a 22-year veteran of the company and had led the cloud and enterprise division since 2011. Before joining Microsoft, Mr. Nadella helped build the internet division at Sun Microsystems, Inc.


Mr. Nadella is also a member of the board of directors at Microsoft, Berkshire Hathaway Inc., The Mastercard Foundation, and MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL).

As CEO, Satya has been on a mission to make Microsoft “the productivity and platform company for the mobile-first and cloud-first world”


Satya Nadella became CEO of Microsoft in 2014 after being a long-time executive at the company. His son passed away. This is his first major public loss and he has been known for his leadership skills, which he put to use by comforting employees and communicating with social media about Zain's death.

Nadella is an Indian-born American citizen who has a long history as an engineer with Microsoft. He was promoted from chief of Microsoft's cloud and enterprise division to CEO in February 2014 after Steve Ballmer announced his retirement. In his first email to employees following the announcement, Nadella said "We'll never forget that what binds us together is not just how we share ideas, but how we share our lives".


Satya Nadella, the Microsoft CEO had a son called Zain. However, Satya Nadella tweeted "Zain was our firstborn. We danced with joy as we watched him grow and become a kind and selfless young man."

Nadella took over as Microsoft CEO after Steve Ballmer retired in 2014. He is considered by many as one of the most powerful CEOs in the tech industry today.


He has helped shape the future of Microsoft and make it into one of the leading companies in the world by adopting progressive policies like parental leave for fathers and mothers both, unlimited vacation time for employees, etc.
