The Complete Guide to Chinese Astronauts and the Future of Space Exploration

Introduction

China has been making significant progress in its space exploration program. It is the third country to independently send humans into space, after Russia and the United States.

In 2003 China became the third nation to launch an astronaut into orbit with its own rocket and spacecraft, after the Soviet Union/Russia and America.

In 2008, China conducted a spacewalk on board Shenzhou 7, becoming the third nation to do so after Russia and America.

In 2013 China completed its first lunar rover mission, making it only the second country to do so after America.

In 2016 China landed a probe on Mars for the first time ever, becoming only one of two countries to have done so.

China is planning another rover mission in 2020 which will explore a different part of Mars

Chinese Astronaut Selection Process Explained

The selection process for Chinese astronauts is a long and rigorous one. It consists of three stages: a preliminary screening, an interview and a final selection.

The first stage of the selection process is the preliminary screening. It includes an exam, physical examination, psychological evaluation, and medical examination. The purpose of this stage is to eliminate candidates who are not qualified for the next stage.

The second stage of the selection process is called “the interview”. It includes a written exam and an oral exam on knowledge in aerospace engineering, space technology, spaceflight operation theory, astronautics knowledge and experimental design skills. The purpose of this stage is to eliminate candidates who are not qualified for the next stage as well as choose those who are qualified to go on to the third stage

China's Space Program Expanding

China’s space program has been expanding at a rapid rate. The country has already conducted two manned space missions, and aims to send an unmanned probe to Mars by 2020.

The country is also developing its own space station, which is scheduled to be completed in 2022. China’s first astronaut Yang Liwei said that the country will never stop exploring the universe and will, in fact, be more ambitious than ever before.

China's Goals for Space Exploration

Space exploration has been a topic of interest for many people. Especially since China has recently announced their plans to explore the moon and mars in the future.

China is the third country to send humans into space. They have also successfully landed on the moon and plan to set up a permanent base there by 2030. China’s space program is ambitious, with plans for a manned mission to Mars by 2040.

This section will explore China's goals for space exploration and what they hope to achieve in the future.
