Call of Duty is a military first-person shooter video game series that started in 2003. The franchise has sold more than 250 million copies worldwide and made Activision the largest third-party developer of the decade. Modern Warfare 2, released in 2009, was the top-selling game of that year. It also won several awards including Best Shooter and Best Multiplayer Game at the 2010 Golden Joystick Awards. Infinity Ward, the team behind these games, was founded by Vince Zampella and Jason West who had previously cofounded Neversoft Entertainment which was bought by Activision in 1999.
